The Providence Police Department created its Homeland Security Division to coordinate homeland defense resources, conduct specialized trainings, and collect, analyze and disseminate intelligence information to its local, state and federal law enforcement partners.

In furtherance of the Department’s overall goals of reducing crime, reducing fear, and enhancing homeland defense efforts, the Homeland Security Division created its own mission statement and strategic goals. By adhering to this mission statement and strategic goals, the Homeland Security Division will assist the Department in achieving its overall goals, therefore, better serve the citizens of Providence.

Strategic Goals:
Awareness: identify and understand terrorist threats, assess vulnerabilities,determine potential impacts and disseminate information in a timely fashion to our law enforcement and community partners

Prevention: detect, deter, and mitigate terrorist threats to our community.

Protection: safeguard our citizens and their freedom by protecting critical infrastructure, property and the economy from terrorist acts.

Service: effectively serve the public by facilitating information and investigating indicators of potential terrorist acts

Organizational Philosophy: the Department’s most importance resource is the men and women that serve as our first line of defense. The Department seeks to create a culture that promotes a common identity, encourages innovation, fosters mutual respect, holds people accountable, and build a team environment based on efficient and effective operational synergies.

Captain Keith Tucker manages all aspects of homeland security for the department. The Homeland Security Division is divided into four areas:
